At the 2019 JEC World exhibition in Paris, Continuous Composites was awarded the prestigious Innovation Award in the newly introduced 3D printing category. Competing among three finalists, the Coeur d’Alene-based company was recognized for its CF3D™ technology, which combines rapid-curing thermoset resins, continuous fibers, and advanced robotics to create moldless composite structures. The CF3D process optimizes fiber orientation, enabling the construction of complex, high-strength structures without the need for molds or autoclaves. The technology also allows for the embedding of metallic wires and fiber optics within printed composites, enabling real-time data collection and electronic power integration.
Other finalists in the 3D printing category included CEAD Group and CompoTech PLUS, both showcasing innovative composite manufacturing solutions. The award marks a significant achievement for Continuous Composites, highlighting its leadership in additive manufacturing for aerospace, defense, and other industries.
