UW Advanced Composites Center

The UW Advanced Composites Center has installed the latest technology for Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fiber Composites by Continuous Composites’ CF3D Enterprise®  This key partnership between ACC and CCI will enable the development and rapid manufacturing of the next generation ultra-efficient and high performance aero and space structures!

The ACC is set to become a national leader in the use of data-driven methods and machine learning to advance high-rate, cost-efficient composite manufacturing. With a focus on reducing the environmental footprint of the aerospace industry and developing workforce training programs, the center is primed to drive innovation in aerospace, urban air mobility, space systems, and high-performance automotive platforms.

Marco Salviato, Program Manager and Principal Engineer at the University of Washington, shared, “We see the CF3D platform as a transformative tool for both research and applied development. Our vision for the Advanced Composites Center is to become a launchpad for disruptive ideas—where scalable manufacturing, novel architectures, and multi-material integration converge. CF3D fits squarely into that mission.”

The ACC will be equipped with a wide range of facilities, including a manufacturing floor for demonstrator projects, classrooms, and graduate student suites. This infrastructure, combined with the CF3D technology, will accelerate the prototyping, validation, and deployment of advanced composite materials with unmatched speed and precision.

We’re thrilled to be a part of this transformative initiative and look forward to the continued growth of the Advanced Composites Center as it shapes the future of aerospace and manufacturing.
